2020 Chicago Bar Association & Illinois State Bar Association—Rated “Highly Qualified” for the position of Circuit Court Judge

I have tried over 100 jury trials including 87 felony jury trials specializing in first degree murder, aggravated D.U.I. resulting in death and predatory criminal sexual assaults against children cases.

I am a proud Latina, wife and mother of 4 children and a native of New Mexico. Before being elected a Circuit Court Judge, I was a career prosecutor, licensed to practice law in New Mexico and Illinois.

I started my career as an Assistant District Attorney in Albuquerque, New Mexico; the most challenging and rewarding work I did in my career was in the Crimes Against Children Division. In 2007, I was hired by the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office where I was considered a lateral hire.

After several years of practice, I achieved the rank of a 1st chair felony trial assistant, and I spent the last two years of my prosecutorial career assigned to the courtroom of the Hon. Vincent M. Gaughan.

I was sworn in as a Circuit Court Judge December 7, 2020.
