Judge Eulalia “Evie” De La Rosa was born in Puerto Rico and grew up in Chicago’s Humboldt Park/Logan Square community. She graduated from George Washington University in 1998 and Chicago-Kent College of Law in 2003. Prior to serving on the bench, she was a Cook County Public Defender for 12 years. Judge De La Rosa is currently assigned to the Cook County Maywood courthouse, where she hears criminal matters.
Judge De La Rosa is a past president of the Puerto Rican Bar Association of Illinois, and currently serves as a board member. In addition, she is a board member of the Illinois Latino Judges Association, a member of the Illinois Judges Association and a member of the Hispanic Lawyer’s Association of Illinois. She regularly mentors law students through the mentorship programs at Chicago-Kent and the Diversity Scholarship Foundation, and takes pride in the long standing friendships she maintains with many of her mentees.
