Associate Judge Brenda Claudio was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico. She
graduated from Lane Technical High School in 1989. She received her
B.A. with honors from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1993 and her
J.D. from DePaul University College of Law in 1996.
Judge Claudio was formerly an Assistant State’s Attorney in Kankakee
County from 1997- 2021. While an ASA, she started in traffic court. She
worked her way up to misdemeanors, domestic violence, stalking, sexual
assault and murder cases. She was a member of several multi-disciplinary
teams and associations.
Judge Claudio has returned to traffic court, this time as an Associate
Judge. She was appointed on August 2, 2021. She is a recent member of
the Illinois Judges Association and the Illinois Latino Judges Association.
She lives in Kankakee County with her husband and two children.
